On Sunday, March 6th, the Association presented a video, "Mise Éire, Súil Siar, Lorg na gCos", which chronicled the making of the landmark Irish documentary "Mise Éire." The 1959 film brought together a number of disparate historical records, films and narrative to document the infamous 1916 Easter Uprising and its aftermath. AIA founding member Dr. Íde O’Carroll has provided a short historical summary of the events of that time and things to be aware of while viewing the video. The news agency IrishCentral also published a recent piece entitled, "How Irish America alone understood the true impact of the 1916 Uprising." You can read that article by following this link.
